Introduction Faith Friends is a leadership training programme for young adults. They are trained on behalf of the parish to befriend and share faith with young candidates for Confirmation. The Faith Friends themselves generally range in age from 17-27 years but these are not absolutes, some Transition Year students also help. It is a very simple programme. Each Faith Friend is assigned 6-8 young candidates and they meet once a week for four or five weeks before the Sacrament. Worksheets are provided to help with the chat and sharing, as well as other helpful material. The Confirmation candidates love the programme and deeply appreciate the time and interest taken by these parishioners. They also think it is great fun. Training consists of four sessions and takes place in November. The meetings of Faith Friends and candidates take place in January - February before the Sacrament of Confirmation.
