Introduction
The
Finance Committee is an advisory committee to the
priests of the Parish.
Its
purpose is to clarify issues and make recommendations to
help ensure that all aspects of the Parish finances are
consistent. This includes reviewing the current
financial situation, discussing the financing of new
projects & various fund-raising initiatives and
reviewing the annual accounts.
Since its
establishment, the Committee has been involved in the
refurbishment of the two Church Buildings in the Parish,
St. Mary’s and Ladychapel, and in establishing a system
whereby the parish may reclaim tax relief on donations
received.
Looking
forward, the next major project is likely to be working
with other parish groups to explore possibilities
regarding the provision of a Parish Centre, which would
be a real bonus for our Community.
For more
information regarding the Finance Committee please
contact Michael Doyle (Chairperson, Tel: 01-6290238) or
Anna Flanagan (Secretary, Tel: 01-6291013) or through
the Parish Office (Tel: 01-6293018, Mail:
maynoothparishoffice@eircom.net).
Background/History
The
Finance Committee was established in December 1998.
The Committee consists of the two priests and usually 6
parishioners.
Committee
members have included people who have worked in various
financial institutions such as banks/building
societies/credit unions, accountants and people who have
been involved in running their own business. However,
in many ways, the only requirements for membership are
confidentiality, common sense and a clear idea as to
what is value for money and good practice.
Each
committee usually serves a 3 to 4 year term.
List of
Members
The
membership of the committee is being rotated at the
moment. If you are interested in joining the committee,
please contact Martina in the Parish Office.
Meeting
Times
The
Committee meet once every 4 to 6 weeks between September
and May/June. These meetings are held in the Parochial
House at 8 pm.
Tax Relief &
Tax Refunds
Would you be
willing to make a donation that won’t cost you a cent ?
Believe it or not, you can !
As a charitable body, it is possible for the Parish to
obtain tax refunds from the Revenue on donations made to
our Parish. If you contributed €250 or more in the past
year (by way of Standing Order, Family Envelopes and
Dues), your contribution can be increased by €180 or
more.
All you have to do is contact the Parish Office (Tel:
01-6293018, Mail: maynoothparishoffice@eircom.net) and
ask for a CHY2 Tax Refund form. Please complete the
form and return it to the Parish Office or put it in the
collection basket at Mass.
